Americans are split over whether the US should quit NATO after allies refused to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, a new Daily Mail/JL Partners poll of 1,000 registered voters finds. President Trump has ripped into NATO allies for doing 'nothing' to help secure Hormuz during his war on Iran - and has threatened to pull the US out of the alliance.
The survey did find that 76 percent of people would favor sending their country's military to help a NATO ally under attack, but there is also strong backing for Europe to develop its own defense capabilities — backed by 86 percent of those polled — with 69 percent favoring the creation of a common European military force.
