This kyanite schist thin section contains the minerals garnet, biotite, kyanite, sericite, quartz and feldspar. In the Plane Polarized view, the garnet and kyanite are grey, biotite is brown, and the sericite, quartz and feldspar are white. In the Cross Polarized view, the sericite has a distinctive bright and finely ‘speckled’ appearance.
